Where Pittsburgh Plays Piano [email protected]
Kelsey Steele, Westminster College music major
"I am a Music Education major at Westminster College and this summer I had the pleasure of studying for my piano proficiency tests with Becky Lewis. Ms. Lewis is fantastic at what she does; she knows that different students have different learning styles, and tailors her lessons to the student, instead of just reading from a script (like my previous teacher). Every lesson, she makes sure to ask the students what they feel they need to work on the most, what they would like to work on during the lesson, and takes that into account when determining what will go on during the lesson.
But all this pedagogical prowess isn't even the most notable aspect of her teaching: indeed, it pales in comparison next to her personality. She is constantly happy: an upbeat, positive, motivating force that drives each student to do better, to push themselves to become better than they are. It is this aspect that is driving me to become a better pianist not just to pass my proficiency test. She is truly a remarkable teacher"

Marty Von Burg, Adult Student
"I'm having a great time. I really appreciate all the extra time you spend figuring out an arrangement that I can actually accomplish. You're the best!"
Mary Lynn Bennett, Parent of 2 and Piano Professor, Duquesne University
I wanted to tell you that the boys really enjoyed the group class. They both came out of it saying how much they liked their piano teacher and piano lessons and that they wanted to keep taking them, and I quote: "and I'm not just saying that because of the treats! She's really nice and I'm learning a lot!"
Andrea, Parent of 2
"Just a token of my appreciation for working with my girls. The excitement and improvement is awesome! I love listening to them; actually we all do. Thank-you so much."
Arno Drucker, Piano Teacher of Transferred Student
"I was most impressed by your letter and all of the materials that Rachel brought with her - your assignment book and the music she was studying. It is obvious that you are a caring and thorough teacher, preparing students with excellent materials, outlining study and practice methods, and being the right teacher for Rachel - and probably many others who are fortunate enough to study with you."
Graduating Seniors

"Thank-up for the six great years of piano education. I probably would not have the ability I have now if I had not started with you. I have really come a long way." Andrew
"Thank-you so much for all of your years of teaching. I learned so much about music, expressing myself, and discipline from you. The gift of music is such a precious gift to share and I will cherish all you have given me through it." Mary
"Because of you, piano has become an important part of my life. I have you to thank not just as a teacher, but as a forever friend that I will miss." Sarah
